This happened in a Dutch Cup game between Ajax (pronounced Aye-ax) and AZ Alkmaar (which sounds like a bad guy from a Disney film).
A fan came onto the field and tried to attack the AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado; the Costa Rican keeper noticed the fan was coming at the last second and beat the fan the punch, er, kick. Then for good measure got a couple of other kicks in.
Somehow, the goalkeeper received a red card for the actions. Luckily, the Dutch football federation rescinded the red card. After the red card, AZ Alkmaar refused to play the rest of the game in protest and now the Dutch football federation is deciding whether or not the game should be replayed.
